The ASRA regularly publishes and distributes a newsletter to its members, Vade Mecum . The bulk of the newsletter comes from submissions from our members. We also provide space for advertisements from our members or those involved in the business of court reporting. We regularly publish job postings and computer equipment for sale.

The ASRA has in place a group disability package for working reporters offered through RBC Insurance . Members may take advantage of this benefit.

The ASRA has endorsed a Group Mutual Fund through Investors Group .  Members may take advantage of this benefit.

Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) Members of the ASRA are automatically granted with the term "Official Court Reporter" under the Alberta Rules of Court

The ASRA annually provides a Spring Seminar. This seminar is usually held in April and generally deals with updated technology in the court reporting field.

The ASRA annually provides a Fall Convention. This event is usually held in September. In addition to our annual general meeting, two seminars are provided which deal with various topics of interest to court reporters. There is also a social function held in conjunction with this convention.

The ASRA is governed by Bylaws under the Societies Act .  The ASRA is also governed by a Regulation.  In 1997, the ASRA was successful in its application under the Professional and Occupational Associations Registration Act (POARA) . The ASRA is now recognized by the Province of Alberta as a professional association.
