Membership Criteria
Certified Shorthand Reporter
Practicing
reporters who have passed a five-minute shorthand examination at 225
words per minute with an accuracy rate of 98%, or who have been
employed continuously for five years and who have enrolled in the ASRA
continuing education program, or who have successfully completed the
RPR examination sponsored by the National Court Reporters Association
may be eligible for membership in this category. Certified shorthand
reporters are authorized to use the designation CSR(A) when certifying
their transcripts. "CSR(A)" is a registered trademark.
Participating Shorthand Reporter
Practicing
reporters who have passed a five-minute shorthand examination at 225
words per minute with an accuracy rate of 98%, or who have been
employed continuously for five years may be eligible for membership in
this category.
Associate Member
A
person who has an interest in the court reporting profession but is not
a practicing reporter may be eligible for membership in this category.
Student Member
A person who is a full-time student in a court reporting program approved by the National Court Reporters Association.
Honourary Member
A
person who is or has been a certified, participating, or associate
member who has distinguished himself or herself by outstanding service
to the court reporting profession may be eligible for membership in
this category.
